Julie Ingersoll is a scholar of religion and politics specializing in evangelical movements and their influence on American public life, including Christian Reconstructionism, gender and abuse in evangelicalism, and religion and violence.

She is Professor of Religious Studies at the University of North Florida and author of Building God’s Kingdom: Inside the World of Christian Reconstruction (Oxford University Press).

Her work examines the intersections of religion, gender, and political power, with particular attention to conservative Protestant movements and their role in shaping contemporary culture.  She has written extensively on Christian nationalism, religious extremism, and the political uses of religion in the United States.

In addition to her academic research, Ingersoll is engaged in public scholarship and regularly writes for broader audiences. Her work has been cited and discussed in national media, and she is available for lectures, interviews, commentary, and expert consultation for both media and law..
